A disqualified driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a van.
The crash happened just after midnight on Sunday morning on the A345 near Woodhenge.
The van driver was travelling northbound on the Wiltshire road when he was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.
The person who was hit, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving whilst disqualified. He was taken to custody in Melksham and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Law enforcement is now hoping that someone else might have seen what happened.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died following an incident on the A345 near Woodhenge.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 and quote log number 14 of November 13.
"Alternatively, email the team at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk."
The police added: "Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
