A Swindon man who has autism is selling handmade Christmas hampers catered for dogs, after he was made redundant at his job.
David Nutt, 34, came up with the idea as he has a fondness for animals, especially dogs themselves.
“I need to help others and take my mind off losing my job at Christmas,” he said.
His mother, Gail Hutton, 60, has helped run this new family enterprise alongside her son.
“When my son was made redundant, he needed something to focus on as he was feeling down and worrying about his job prospects,” she said.
“Life is so much harder for those with hidden disabilities.”
The family started advertising their products last month on the Nextdoor social media app and demand has been high for the homemade doggy packages.
On their initial advert post, David and Gail received 11 requests for hampers, with some residents wanting to order several at once.
“Rather than focusing on himself, he wanted to focus on others and help people give their animals a good Christmas by supplying hampers at an affordable price,” explained Ms Hutton.
There is a variety of products available from puppy hampers, to small, large and luxury, each containing a variety of treats and Christmas toys.
Prices range from £7.50 to £17, and if you are interested in purchasing one of the hampers, you can contact Gail Hutton on Nextdoor.
