The A419 has fully reopened after being shut due to a serious crash early on Wednesday morning.
Police confirmed that the road was open in both directions between Dorcan Way and the White Hart roundabout at 9pm, almost 19 hours after it first shut.
The Wanborough Bridge, which was also closed, has reopened as well.
The A419 had been closed in both directions since around 2.30am this morning due to a serious collision.
Police earlier confirmed that a man had died as a result of the collision.
At the time a spokesperson added: "The incident took place at approximately 2.30am today and involved a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near the Merlin Way bridge.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage at the time and location of the incident”.
Those with information can call the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 and quote log number 19 of November 16. Alternatively, they can email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.
With the road closed throughout the day, there has been traffic chaos in Swindon in both the morning and evening rush hours.
Many have been stuck in gridlock which was made worse by another collision on the M4, although that has also now fully reopened.
