YOUNG people with autism and other disabilities are the stars of a new programme being broadcast on community radio station Swindon 105.5.

Spectrum, which has been given its title by the team of trainees and volunteers, will go out on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6pm.

Station manager Shirley Ludford said: “We are all about individuals’ abilities not disabilities. Everyone has a right to shine and to have a voice.

"All of these lads are great and have really developed confidence in themselves and to them support others.”

Their first programme can be heard through Catch Up on the station’s website at swindon1055.co.uk

Anyone wanting to find out more about the training and volunteering opportunities available is very welcome to call the station and go in for a visit.

People who might be interested in learning skills to support the trainees are also invited.
