A Swindon-based charity is holding an event this week to mark Carers Rights Day.
Swindon Carers Centre is marking the day, which helps ensure carers are aware of their rights, by holding an event on Friday, November 25.
The event will allow carers to hear from Swindon’s health and social care leaders.
Topics to be discussed include the cost of caring, which can have a significant impact on a carer’s finances, employment options and personal health and wellbeing.
Presenters for the day will include Steve Maddern, Director of Public Health, Swindon; Sarah-Jane Peffers, Associate Director of Patient Safety and Quality and NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon.
Swindon Carers Centre CEO Susanna Jones said: “Many of our carers are facing challenges because of the UK’s current cost-of-living crisis, placing further stress on what can already be a challenging role.”
“We hope that carers in Swindon will take up this opportunity to listen in to key decision makers, and to have their say, helping us to create a community where carers are truly recognised, valued and supported,” concluded Ms Jones.
The event will be taking place from 10am to 1:30am at The Platform on Farringdon Road and Questions can be submitted early by emailing communications@swindoncarers.org.uk.
