A children’s nursery in Swindon was namechecked in parliament for its excellent work after a visit by North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson and an education minister
Claire Coutinho MP, the minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing went with Mr Tomlinson to Imagination Childcare in Moredon, and spoke with nursery owner Becky Cruise to learn more about her work, and how Imagination Childcare is ensuring that the early years are as fun and as enriching as possible.
After looking around tour, Claire, Justin, and Becky plus borough councillor Jo Morris –who owns and runs Playsteps Nursery – discussed the UK’s childcare sector.
And a week later Mr Tomlinson used what he had learned that day to speak in a Westminster Hall debate early years childcare.
And Ms Coutinho as the relevant minister responded: “Just last week, I was with my hon. Friend the Member for North Swindon at Imagination Childcare, and we saw the brilliant work that staff do there to give children the best start in life.”
Following the debate, Justin Tomlinson said: “I want to thank Becky and Jo for taking the time to meet with myself and the minister. Knowledge and experience make for better policy, so I am very grateful for the insight gained from Becky and Jo. Secondly, I really appreciate Claire taking the time to visit Imagination Childcare, and for listening to and engaging with Becky and Jo.
"I was very proud to mention Imagination Childcare in the debate. Swindon is lucky to have some excellent childcare provisions, and it was great to highlight one such nursery.”
