Wiltshire Police are urging residents to call 999 if they see the man in this picture.
They released the appeal on Wednesday afternoon, urging residents not to approach him but call 999 and give as much detail as possible.
The man is described as white, about six feet tall and slim build, with short slicked back black hair.
Officers believe he is wearing blue jeans and carrying a rucksack.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We are urgently appealing for information about the man in this CCTV image.
"If you see him, do not approach him.
"He is described as a white male, about 6ft tall with a slim build and short slicked back black hair.
"He is thought to be wearing blue jeans, and carrying a rucksack.
"Call us on 999 immediately quoting log 153 of today, giving as much detail as you can about his location and direction of travel."
