A Swindon church is offering local families the chance to attend one of the largest Santa’s grotto displays in the town this weekend.
St Michael’s Church in Highworth creates a Santa’s grotto each year for visitors to enjoy and this year is no different.
Lynn Thrussell, 61, is the Church Hall Manager and enjoys creating the event each year.
“It is a magical grotto with Santa attending on the day and it marks a great way to kick off the festivities,” she said.
“The kids walk through the grotto and get their presents at the end.”
The sizeable grotto is held in the church hall, courtesy of two marquees and three gazebos, making for several scenes of festive fun.
“We have many different wintery settings and scenes with loads of lights,” added Lynn.
The event promises to be a great experience as Lynn noted the success of the grotto in the past.
“Over a hundred children came through last year,” she said.
Tickets are priced at £1.50 per child and that includes a small gift at the end of the grotto.
Proceeds will go to the church itself and the Crisis at Christmas charity.
The event is being held from 11am to 2.30pm only on Saturday, November 26.
