SELLING things online can be risky - as one victim from the Swindon area has just discovered.
A posting on Facebook Marketplace offered a mobile phone for sale at a price of £120.
An interested potential buyer agreed to pay for the phone and told the seller in Royal Wootton Bassett that he had paid the required amount of money through a banking app.
He took the phone but no payment ever arrived in the seller's bank account.
Police are now appealing to the public for information that could help identify a suspect in this theft.
Images that seem to have been captured by CCTV or a doorbell camera have been shared on the Wiltshire force's Facebook page.
A spokesman said: "If you are able to identify this person, or if this is you, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54220061075."
