With Christmas, nearly a month away Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council has announced its plans for the lights switch-on.
The town council’s annual festive evening is set to take place on December 2.
In order for the event to set up safely, the High Street will be closed to traffic at the Coxstalls Roundabout from 3 pm to 10 pm.
The event itself will get underway 6pm to 8.30 pm, when the mayor Pat Farrow will switch on the Christmas light
Festive stalls and Santa’s grotto are among a number of attractions that are being lined up. Cash payments of £2 on the night per child will be accepted.
Shops throughout the town will be open for late-night customers wanting to buy a Christmas present for their loved ones.
The town council has advised residents that there will be several diversions during the road closure, which will affect bus services.
Passengers travelling to Swindon or Chippenham with Stagecoach are being advised to wait for the bus at either the brick bus shelter on the High Street by Lime Kiln traffic lights or the bus stops along New Road.
People who wish to travel to Malmesbury or Swindon using Coachstyle are being advised to use the bus stops on New Road or Nore Mash Road.
