The opening of the brand new bookstore in Swindon is set to be marked by a television star.

SAS Who Dares Win presenter Ant Middleton will appear at the new Waterstones shop which is set to open for business on Wednesday.

Ant has been the chief instructor of the show for over seven years since it was first broadcast in 2015 on Channel 4.

At the age of 17, Mr Middleton joined the army in 1998 where he served in the 9 Parachute Squadron RE and served tours of duty in Northern Ireland in 1999.

After leaving the army, he joined the Royal Marines in 2005 before enlisting in the Special Boat Service, serving for four years.

Mr Middleton will be appearing from 1pm and will be signing copies of his new book Red Mist.

The book is about a former Special Forces veteran turned vigilante who is trying to keep out of trouble in France, aware that there is a darkness within him that seeks out trouble.

He was convicted of the unlawful wounding of one police officer and common assault upon a second in 2013. Mr Middleton was sentenced to 14 months in prison, of which he served four months.
