Here is a summary of the latest planning applications submitted to Wiltshire Council.
Christian Malford: Six new affordable houses may be built in Christian Malford, between Chippenham and Royal Wootton Bassett, on land adjacent to Station Road Bridge.
All the buildings are to be three-bedroom houses and twelve parking spaces are proposed. The application site is around 0.38ha on the western side of Station Road.
The houses are proposed in a revised planning application submitted to Wiltshire Council by Mr and Mrs Gilding after previous plans for the six houses were rejected in July.
It was rejected for several reasons and the council said: “The development would be in a rural location outside any recognised development limits, resulting in the creation of new dwellings in the open countryside.”
In addition, the Council cited the noise of the railway which passes near the site, as a reason for rejection.
The new plans claim to have refuted the objections because all the proposed housing is now affordable, and the sound of trains could be reduced by designing the houses to mitigate the noise.
According to the plans the site is redundant land with existing trees and hedging running along its boundaries with a road frontage onto Station Road.
Royal Wootton Bassett: A new car wash and electric vehicle charging facility may be built at Coped Hall, Royal Wootton Bassett.
The application site is around 2340 square meters of land adjoining the ALDI car park off the A3102.
The site is currently vacant but was once used as a display area for the Land Rover dealership previously on the location.
According to developers, Carbana, the car wash would be eco-friendly through systems which would allow reduced water and energy consumption.
There would be four wash bays (three covered and one open), four covered valeting areas, a waiting room and a pump room.
There will also be a bank of three rapid charging units, with six charging bays for electric vehicles.
The enclosed wash bays will be around 4.5m high.
The site will have a single Totem approximately 5m high 1.25m wide located at the front of the site.
Chippenham: The grade two listed Pewsham pub in Chippenham may have the tarmacked entrance replaced by a garden area and a new paved entrance.
The plans say: “Currently there is no real definition between the front of the pub and the road other than a boundary wall that lines the public highway.
“The entrance to the pub is currently dominated by tarmac and car parking giving no sense of arrival.
“A front garden area that graduates from the road to form a safer and more attractive paved entrance to the pub will enable users to enjoy some formal landscaped frontage to the pub.”
It adds: “the natural paved material will be in keeping with the historic character of the property”
The Pewsham pub (previously known as The Lysley Arms) is owned by Heavitree Brewery and has undergone a major sympathetic restoration over the last couple of years in line with the planning and listed building approval gained in 2020.
