Thieves allegedly stole £150 in cash whilst a shopper was out buying groceries in Marlborough.
Officers want to speak to two men in connection with the incident which is said to have taken place in the Tesco superstore on Salisbury Road on November 17.
As well as the cash, the purse contained the victim’s bank card and driver’s licence.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is being asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54220121711.
Tesco in Marlborough has suffered from some high-value thefts in the past.
Back in June and July this year, a large amount of alcohol was stolen on both occasions.
Police launched an appeal to hunt the suspects who were involved in the thefts.
One of the offenders is believed to have been a passenger in a grey Seat Leon, with a CF number plate.
Ahead of the Christmas period, officers have been conducting high-visibility patrols on Marlborough High Street, in response to a recent increase in shoplifting.
A spokesperson from One Stop on the High Street said: “It’s a big problem at the moment.
“We’ve had some local school children come in stealing things like sweets, energy drinks and they are just small things but it does all add up.”
