One of Swindon’s busiest roads was closed today after a crash between a van and motorcycle caused police to attend the scene.
Corporation Street is a busy thoroughfare through the town centre, yet it was unusable around lunchtime on Wednesday, November 30.
Police have confirmed that a motorbike rider has been taken to hospital with a "serious leg injury".
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called just after midday today following an RTC between a van and a motorcycle on Broad Street, Swindon.
“The rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
“The driver of the van, a man in his 40s, was reported for careless driving.”
Two Wiltshire Police vehicles attended the scene, accompanied by a singular ambulance.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 11.54hrs to a road traffic collision in Swindon.
“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”
This incident had also caused bus routes to alter with Stagecoach West revealing that their routes have been redirected along County Road, Fleming Way and Manchester Road.
The road has since reopened, and traffic is moving normally once again.
