A Swindon mental health nurse has been struck off for 'sexually motivated' inappropriate contact with one of his patients.
Simon Ian Blemings has been initially suspended for 18 months after a hearing found he had used sexual language in messages with a patient.
A Nursing and Midwifery Council Fitness to Practise Committee met on November 18, where it was heard that Blemings had been involved in multiple breaches of professional boundaries between March 2020 and December 2020.
It was also revealed that Blemings had acted desperately to try and cover up the nature of the relationship he was having with his vulnerable patient.
The hearing was held privately because the case was 'inextricably linked to the health of Service User A' who is the victim of Mr Bleming's behavior, in order to protect them and their identity.
Blemings was found to have inappropriately divulged personal information about himself to his patient, including that he was not happy in his marriage, had struggles as a parent, and had difficulties with both his father and mother.
He also met with his patient outside of a clinical setting several times where he hugged and kissed her, and remained in contact via email, texts, and Zoom.
Some of the communication Blemings had with the patient was shared during the hearing.
On one occasion he was found to have said: “Ring me whilst running and heavy breathe down the phone! It’ll make my day.”
In September he said to her: “You were looking good. For a sweaty b****," as well as calling her a "hottie" and a "babe".
On one or more occasions he indicated he was thinking of her in a sexual manner, described what having sex with her would be like, and often made references to her breasts.
On one or more occasions he would send an emoji that he said was his “c** face.”
He also told his patient that he was "turned on" by her in a reindeer outfit and "had an erection" after receiving a picture of her hair in pigtails that he'd requested.
He was told on December 1, 2020, to stop contacting her but continued to do so and then in the ensuing months encouraged, manipulated and intimidated her to not disclose the extent of the personal relationship they had.
In conclusion, the committee told Blemings, who did not attend: "In light of the above your fitness to practise is impaired by reason of your misconduct."
A spokesperson from AWP said: “As soon as we became aware of the allegations against Mr Blemmings we removed him from duty and referred him to the Nursing & Midwifery Council, which is his professional regulator.”
