A DRAMATIC police chase around Swindon ended in a driver being arrested after trying to run away from officers.
A Fiat Punto failed to stop in Groundwell Road at around 2am on Friday, so roads policing unit officers pursued the driver until he stopped the car in Logan Close and fled on foot.
A Wiltshire Specialist Operations spokesman added: "This did not go well for him. He was swiftly detained and found to be in possession of drugs and an offensive weapon."
Police found and seized a small amount of cannabis as well as a catapult with a wheel nut.
A man in his 30s from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of cannabis, taking a vehicle without consent, and having no insurance and no licence.
He remains in custody in Gablecross Police Station for questioning.
