The administrators of a national company with a showroom in Swindon that recently collapsed have issued a statement.
Optiplan Kitchens Limited manufactures and installs kitchens selling to homebuilders and through its national network of showrooms.
The company went into administration last month and the news came as a shock to most involved.
An Adver exclusive revealed that the staff at the Swindon branch were stunned to find out that their employer had gone into administration and were told to go home.
Following the shellshock of this announcement which affects so many lives in Swindon, the administrators, Kroll, have spoken out.
“Compounding the well documented slowdown in consumer demand for big ticket purchases, Optiplan in common with many in the UK has also faced damaging supply chain and inflationary pressures,” said Jimmy Saunders, Managing Director of Kroll.
“As a consequence, and in view of ongoing losses, the business was unable to continue trading.”
Jimmy Saunders and Michael Lennon, both of Kroll, were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company on Wednesday, November 30.
111 employees were made redundant of the 128 people working at Optiplan and the Joint Administrators are now looking for purchasers for the assets of the company.
The wider group that Optiplan Kitchens Limited is a part, Home Décor Group, is continuing to trade, being unaffected by the appointment.
