Residents in Marlborough were able to get some discounts ahead of Christmas as the cost of living crisis bites people's budgets.
On November 25, Marlborough mayor Cllr Lisa Farrell joined Jennie Shaw, Director of Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust (WBVT) and Nicky Alberry, Chair of Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Services (SDASS), to cut the ribbon on the Pop Up Pre-Loved Clothes Sale at the Town Hall.
The shop was set up by the two charities with a small army of volunteers setting up the shop in record time.
On sale were blouses, sweaters, warm winter coats and evening wear perfect with prices starting at £1.
Hundreds of people visited throughout the day with thousands of pounds being raised.
All the profits from the day will be split equally between the two charities.
Jennie Shaw, Director of the WBVT said: “With the cost-of-living crunch, both our Charities are facing additional challenges this year.
“Fundraising events like this are essential to the Charities to maintain the important services we are delivering locally.”
Nicky Alberry, Chair of SDASS, added: “This was our first pop-up shop at the Town Hall.
“We are so grateful to everyone who donated items for us to sell and to the people of Marlborough for turning out to support us. We very much hope to be back in 2023!”
