Christmas shoppers from across England and Wales have explained why they chose Swindon’s Designer Outlet Centre for their biggest shop of the year.
The first Saturday of December saw shoppers from other parts of the UK descend upon the Outlet Centre to begin their Christmas shopping.
Diana Williams and her husband John came from South Wales because of the choice of shops.
She said: “We have an outlet centre in Bridgend but it’s not as nice as this… it hasn’t got these nice shops. We want to have a good look around”.
For Dean Ingram, who brought his family to Swindon from Oxford, lower prices were the main attraction.
“It’s probably one of the better places to come”, he said. “It’s a lot cheaper than Oxford.”
Angela Abury, another shopper who travelled from Wales, agreed: “We came because of the prices… we’re going to do our Christmas shopping here”.
Pat Bagnall travelled 74 miles from Hampshire to visit the outlet centre on her way to Wales.
She added: “We always come here. It’s nice and warm and you can just wander round”.
Other customers, like Paul Peterson from Bristol, said they visit Swindon annually to do their Christmas shopping.
He explained: “We come around this time every year just so we can top up on Christmas presents”.
