Electricity has been restored in a central area of Swindon following an unplanned outage earlier today.
The Adver reported on Monday, December 5, that there was a power outage in the Farringdon Road area of Swindon.
This was according to a live map distributed on the website of Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks which displayed several streets in the area as red in colour.
Red signifies when a specific area is without power due to unforeseen circumstances.
The area is n question mainly affected Lorne Street, Cambria Road and Cambria Place, but parts of Farringdon Road as well as the park were also affected.
Power has now returned to the area, making it a quick turnaround from the engineers in dealing with the issue.
SSEN have also commented on the Swindon outage since the fix and gave more details about what occurred.
“We would like to apologise to our customers who experienced a loss of power this afternoon and thank them for their patience while our engineers worked to restore power as safely and quickly as possible,” said a spokesperson for SSEN Distribution.
“A fault on the distribution network occurred at 12.20pm, affecting 20 customers in an area of Swindon.”
“Power was restored to customers in stages, with all customers restored by 1.15pm.”
SSEN also confirmed to the Adver that the cause of the power cut was a fault with a fuse on the distribution network.
