VILLAGERS near Swindon got into the festive spirit at an event celebrating this year's Christmas lights switch-on.
Wroughton Parish Council members were delighted to unveil their village Christmas tree on Saturday.
The switch on event included a festive market selling crafts, gifts, cakes and preserves.
The Wroughton Silver Band, led by bandmaster Neil Webb, led the community carols around the tree.
Parish council clerk Emma Freemantle welcomed VIP guests Eyra, Isabella, Darcey and James from the Wroughton Primary Federation to press the big button that illuminated the spectacularly decorated tree in Willow-Brook Gardens, next to the Ellendune Community Centre.
This is the latest part of the Swindon borough to have its Christmas lights switched on, following similar events in Highworth and Old Town, and a Christmas market weekend marking the switch-on of Swindon town centre's decorations.
