The woman arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that took the life of a 14-year-old schoolchild remains on bail, police have confirmed.

Nova Hreod Academy pupil Harry Parker was on his way to school on the morning of Friday, November 25, when he was hit by a car that failed to stop at the scene.

He was airlifted to hospital in Bristol via Wiltshire Air Ambulance but Wiltshire Police confirmed that the popular boy had died the following day, despite the best efforts of paramedics and doctors.

A woman was arrested later on that Friday but has since been released on conditional bail while police continue to carry out inquiries.

Just under two weeks after the incident, The Adver approached police for an update on their investigation and they confirmed that there had been no material change, but that they continue to appeal for witnesses.

A spokesperson said: "The woman who was initially arrested in relation to this incident remains on bail while enquiries continue."

In the days following the collision the response from the Swindon community was massive, with hundreds of people travelling to the site to lay flowers, football shirts, and other tributes as well as light candles.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Harry's parents, Adam and Kelly with the funeral costs, and it received over 1,500 individual donations totaling to almost £25,000.

Adam posted a tribute to his son, who would have been celebrating his 15th birthday on the Wednesday after the crash happened, on his Facebook page.

He said: "This is something no parent should ever have to say. Our beautiful golden son Harry Parker was involved in a horrendous car incident along the horrible road Akers way. Unfortunately, he lost his life far too soon. Harry will be missed by lots but no more than us, his family."

He recently said he was "blown away" by everyone's kindness with the GoFundMe donations, especially in these recent hard times, and vowed that Harry would get the send-off he deserved.

He added that some of the money would go towards a campaign to make Akers Way, which was the site of another tragedy 31 years prior, safer.

As well as the update, the police spokesperson also reiterated the previous appeal for witnesses to come forward.
