A MAIN road in the Swindon borough was closed by police.
Motorists were warned at around 9am on Thursday that the B4109 is currently closed between Blunsdon and Highworth.
A water pipe had leaked and then frozen overnight due to the sub-zero temperatures.
This made the road surface too slippery for vehicles to safely travel on.
Swindon Borough Council were informed of the road hazard.
At around 12pm, police announced that the road was now open again.
