A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death.

The boy has been charged with killing Owen Dunn in Haydon End on Sunday afternoon.

The suspect cannot be named for legal reasons, and faces other charges of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place as well as possession of class A and B drugs.

He is due to appear in Swindon Youth Court on Friday morning (December 9).

Owen, from Penhill, was on his way to see his girlfriend when he was stabbed to death at around 1.30pm on December 4.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of the Major Crime Investigation Team said: "I would like to take this opportunity to extend my condolences to the family and friends of Owen Dunn at this difficult time.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience and support over the last few days as this investigation has progressed, we fully appreciate the impact and concern this will have caused."

Police are continuing to appeal for any further information that can support its investigation into the attack on Mazurek Way on Sunday.

Owen's aunt Lauren Page set up a GoFundMe page to help his parents, Zoe Mitchell and Graham Dunn pay for the funeral. It has received thousands of pounds in donations.

Police cordoned off a large part of Torun Way and its junction with Mazurek Way, then arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man . The 20-year-old was later released under investigation.
