A new Chinese restaurant has opened its doors in Swindon town centre ahead of the new year.
Hakka2 has made 40-42 Regent Street its new home after being incorporated on Monday, October 31, and is located beside one of Swindon’s Wetherspoons pubs, The Savoy.
The building was the former site of The Regent Court Chinese Takeaway which was still in operation earlier this year.
A makeover has been given to the interior with polished stone and glass being used heavily throughout, giving the place a more modern look and feel.
Swindon’s latest restaurant gets its name from the Hakka, who are a unique ethnic sub-group of the Han and have a distinct dialect and cuisine.
Hakka food is known for their stewed and braised dishes as well as a heavy use of meat and tofu.
The new restaurant has stayed true to this and offers a wide selection of meals that encompass this tradition as well as favourite familiar Chinese dishes.
Noodles, rice, meat, seafood and more all feature on a stacked menu which will leave customers heavy in decision with so many options available.
A soft opening was available on Thursday, December 15, for people to get a taste of what is to come from the eatery.
Hakka2 is currently open six days a week from 12pm to 3pm with Mondays completely closed.
On Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the restaurant also currently opens from 5pm to 10pm.
This later allotted period is extended to a 11pm closing time on Fridays and Saturdays.
