There is a change in how Swindon Borough Council will handle real Christmas Trees for recycling this year
Those who pay for a garden waste collection can leave their trees out with their green bin on the scheduled collection day between January 9 and Friday, February 3.
But those people who are not garden waste subscribers will have to request a collection form outside their house.
To do that householder should visit the website https://www.swindon.gov.uk/xfp/form/1002
Requests should be made before January 13. The borough council will then inform those making request when they should leave their trees out for collection between 23 January and February 3.
The collection service is free – but it only applies to real Christmas trees.
For those people wanting to get rid of artificial Christmas trees, which are not recyclable, the borough council suggests donating it to a charity shop or booking a slot at the Waterside Park Household Waste Recycling Centre.
