A TOWN centre shop is having its closing down sale as the business in charge of it has decided to stop trading.
Shaws the Drapers has been part of the Brunel Shopping Centre for years but will not be open for much longer.
The 106-year-old family business has 28 shops selling curtains and home goods in England and Wales.
Staff received an email from owner Philip Shaw which said the retailer had hoped to restructure after a "challenging year", but decided it was no longer viable.
Around 150 staff are believed to be affected across all branches.
The company had been placed into voluntary liquidation - which means its assets will be used to pay off debts and any money left will go to shareholders - and formally ceased trading on December 23.
The remaining stock in Swindon's store is being sold off at half price.
Shaws said in its email, seen by the BBC, that it wanted to support staff in finding new jobs and thanked them for their service.
It said: "This hasn't been an easy decision for us to make, and we fully appreciate the consequences for you, but the business simply is not viable and we cannot see a way of making it so."
