THE managers of an Old Town shop have sold the business to new owners.
Trousseaux Bridal started out in Wood Street in 2008 under its founder Kim Trueman before moving to opposite the Goddard Arms and then later to the Groundwell Industrial Estate in 2015.
Vicki and Paul Crocker took over the shop that year, expanded it to a second studio, then moved back to Old Town in 2019 by setting up a new studio on Devizes Road.
Since then, a pandemic and a cost of living crisis have made it difficult for the current team to continue running the wedding dress specialists.
But customers should not worry about the business closing – instead, it is being sold to new owners who can keep it going for the foreseeable future.
Vicki told the Adver: “We have made the tough decision to sell Trousseaux Bridal.
“We have had the most incredible and beautiful experience, met amazing people along the way, and helped over 700 brides find their dream dress.
“Covid hit us extremely hard, and we found ourselves struggling with not only the financial impact, but the emotional one as well.
“In addition to this, we have had a number of personal issues that have affected our ability to continue on.
“We currently don’t feel in a position to continue on with running Trousseaux Bridal to the best of our ability, and would like to pass it over to someone who can give it their all.
“We will begin sending out emails to our gorgeous brides to pass on the details of the new owners.
“We want to thank everyone who we have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and for everyone’s support.
“We have made some amazing friends and you will always be considered part of our Trousseaux Family.”
A few months after moving to Devizes Road, the bridal shop won Wedding Boutique of the Year South West category in the 2019 English Wedding Awards.
In 2020, the team created a touching window display to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week in partnership with the charity Swindon SANDS, with blue and pink ribbons featuring names of babies born over the last 12 months that did not survive their first few days.
In March 2022, Trousseaux transformed its window display in a show of support for Ukraine, with blue and yellow outfits added to the models, and vases full of sunflowers.
