A regular customer at the Orbital shopping centre Asda in Haydon Wick was treated to a special surprise from the supermarket on her 80th birthday.
Dot said she loves her weekly coffee mornings held at the store's cafe, so when its community champion Jane found out about Dot's upcoming 80th, she knew she had to do something special.
Jane baked Dot a cake herself and led a chorus of 'happy birthday' while the store's chaplain Chris made her a handmade card signed by the group.
Jane said: "We all just wanted to wish the lovely Dot a very happy birthday and pass on our best wishes.
"She was really surprised, bless her. She recently had a knee operation and has been away for a while, but is so happy to be back each week now.
"We kept in contact with Dot when she was unable to attend via our WhatsApp group.
"Some of our group have disabilities and have been unwell and if they don't turn up we like to check they are okay or if they need anything."
The group meets in our cafe every Wednesday between 10am and 11.30am and numbers have doubled over the last six months.
Jane said: "We love to support health and well-being in our community and we welcome new members to come along for a coffee and chat."
