Roves Farm has rung in the new year with the pitter-patter of tiny feet - or rather hooves - after another successful lambing season.

62 little lambs, 22 twins and 2 sets of triplets, have been born from the farm's flock of Poll Dorset ewes and soon members of the public will be able to get up close to the adorable new arrivals.

Sheep farmer Pippa Bolter, 34, is responsible for the ewes and managing the lambing seasons.

She said: “Our January lambing is very important for the farm as it enables us to supply our Farm Shop & Butchery with home-reared lamb throughout the year.

"It’s also great for our visitors who can meet the lambs over a longer period of time and take part in our meet the lambs & bottle feeding sessions."

The farm is set to have two more lambing seasons. The first is from February 8 to February 11 when the rest of its Poll Dorsets are due to have 45 lambs.

Then from March 15-31, the farm's Continental ewes, made up mostly of Charollais-cross breed sheep will begin giving birth to their lambs. This is the farm's main flock of sheep and they are expected to have a total of 422 lambs from them, including 25 sets of triplets and 2 sets of quads.

Last year the farm had two sets of quintuplets, an incredibly rare event that is said to be one in a million, and it celebrated its 30th anniversary of being open to the public.

Visitors will be able to walk in with the current lambs and their mothers from Monday, January 16, until early February which is when the next flock will be actively lambing.

There will also be bottle feeding which has started now and will continue throughout the lambing season into April.

The lambs aren't the only new addition to the popular Sevenhampton farm, as it has also just launched its new sessions for babies and toddlers.

The farm's marketing manager, Keeley Lally, explained: "Our Rugrats & Rascals sessions take place daily in our play barn and include messy play, a new sensory zone, music, movement & games led by our activities team."

"All Rugrats and Rascals sessions are included with a day ticket or membership."
