Commuters on a major railway line through Wiltshire are likely to see long delays this evening after a points failure.
National Rail warned that the line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway would be delayed until 3pm this afternoon but after later updates, this is no longer the case.
The organisation initially posted a Tweet that said: “Delays between Bristol Parkway and #Swindon expected until 15:00.”
This however has been extended now until the end of today, with no end to the delays in sight for the foreseeable hours.
After then suggesting that the disruption could be concluded by 4:30pm, National Rail then Tweeted a final statement that said: “Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.”
The cause of this disruption is said to be a points failure between Bristol Parkway and Swindon means some lines are blocked.

As a result of this failure, trains between these stations may be cancelled and delays of up to 40 minutes could be experienced.
