The following public notices have been issued in Swindon within the last week.

TOWN CENTRE: Notice is given that Swindon Borough Council made the following temporary orders: A traffic order (reference STR000476) is being introduced for highway improvement works.

It will impose restrictions on traffic, pedestrians and cyclists with overnight road closures, speed restrictions, a weight restriction, and footway and cycle lane closures on A4259 Marlborough Road between Coate and Commonhead Roundabouts, and on Queens Drive adjacent to and including Coate Roundabout.

Traffic to be diverted as follows:

Queens Drive closure - Queens Drive, Marlborough Road, A419, Oxford Road, Drakes Way, Queens Drive, and vice versa.

Marlborough Road closure - Marlborough Road, A419, Oxford Road, Drakes Way, Queens Drive, and vice versa.

The order will come into force on February 20 and it is anticipated the restrictions will be required for up to eight months and the overnight road closures will only be in place as/when required.

WANBOROUGH: A traffic order (reference STR000484) is being introduced for resurfacing works on behalf of the council.

It will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Pack Hill between Commonhead Roundabout to 300 metres east of The Marsh.

Alternative route via Church Road to Wanborough Road, Foxhill Crossroads, un-named road to B4192 Purley Road, and vice versa.

The order comes into force on February 6 for six months.

BLUNSDON: A traffic order (reference STR000510) is being introduced for Thames Water works.

It will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Blunsdon’s High Street between Fortuna Road and The Ridge.

Alternative route via Ermin Street, B4019, Sam's Lane, and vice versa.

The order comes into force on February 27 and it is anticipated that the works will take place between then and March 3.

TOWN CENTRE: A traffic order (reference STR000517) is being introduced to allow drainage and resurfacing works to a footpath.

It will temporarily close PROW footpath 2 Central Swindon South between Homington Avenue and PROW footpath 1 Central Swindon South.

Alternative route: From the northern end of the closure will be north-eastwards to Day House Lane then south-eastwards along Day House Lane to the A419 overbridge.

Then turn southwards along the tarmac path to junction 15 of the M4 and then westwards along Public Footpath 1 to the southern end of the closure.

The alternative route from the southern end of the closure is the reverse of the above route.

The order comes into force on January 23 for six months.

TOWN CENTRE: A variation to Order 2023 of the Waiting and Loading Restrictions and Parking Places Consolidation Order 2021 has been made by Swindon Borough Council under the provisions of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and The Traffic Management Act 2004.

The effect of it is to continue the experimental order put in place for 18 months from August 1 2021 which introduced electrical vehicle charging points in residents parking zones.

These bays are for use by residents permit holders only (specific to each zone), 8am to 10pm, for a maximum time of three hours no return within two hours, for the purpose of charging an electric vehicle at the following locations:

Ford Street in Zone K, Broad Street in Zone J, Westmorland Road in Zone H, Dixon Street, Ashford Road and Maidstone Road in Zone D, William Street in Zone F, and Milton Road in Zone C.

The order will be operative as of February 1 2023. A copy of the documents for the order may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the order, you may, within six weeks from January 25 2023, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
