A NEW entertainment attraction is heading to the  town centre.

High Score Arcades has announced that it is opening an arcade in Swindon

The company has three other branches at Newbury, Farnborough and Southampton.

But its new arcade gaming entertainment venue will be a lot closer to home, with plans for the fourth store to open inside the Brunel Shopping Centre.

In a post on Facebook advertising the new arrival, High Score Arcades said: "Oh hey Swindon See you soon.

"We're super excited to share the news that we're opening a brand new arcade in Swindon!

"We'll be located within The Brunel Shopping Centre. Stay tuned for more info and the opening date coming very soon! highscorearcades.co.uk."

The concept of the arcade is that anybody wishing to visit can pay an entry fee to get in for an hour, but once inside all of the arcade games are free to play and people can play as many of them as you like within that time.

A blurb about the arcades on the website for the recently opened Newbury branch says: "Calling all fun-seekers! We’re super excited to invite you to Newbury's newest family entertainment experience.

"High Score is a free-play amusement centre, packed with over 60 games to either reminisce or play for the first time. From old-school classics including Space Invaders and PAC-man to pinball, sports games and the newest arcade fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

"Put the pedal to the metal and go head-to-head with your friends on the latest racing games or challenge your family and see who can reach the highest spot on the High Score leaderboard. Whether you’re looking for a family day out, a date night idea or a fun-filled day with friends, High Score has got you covered."

The cost of entry to the soon-to-open Swindon store haven't been revealed, but the price list is the same across the three existing stores.

Tickets there are currently £11.95 for adults, £38.24 for a family of four (with one adult and at least two children) and £5.97 for disability or carer concessions and under-5s go free.

The opening hours for the other stores appear to be weekend only, on Fridays at 4pm-8pm and 10am-8pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
