The M4 westbound between Swindon and Chippenham has reopened following a crash on Sunday afternoon.
There was a collision between a car and a lorry, leading to the section between Junction 16 (Swindon West) and Junction 17 (Chippenham) to be closed.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital via an air ambulance which landed near Chippenham.
It is not thought that the man’s injuries are life changing, but they are described as serious.
The road was temporarily closed but has since reopened after the crash scene was cleared.
There are currently two miles of congestion because of this incident, causing delays of approximately 20 minutes.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson: “We were contacted at around 3pm today following an RTC between a car and a lorry on the M4 westbound between junctions 16 and 17.
“The driver of the car has been taken to hospital with injuries which are serious but not thought to be life-changing.
“The carriageway was temporarily closed to allow for recovery and has now reopened.”
