A secret knitting group in Swindon has made a contribution for Valentine’s Day in the way of a decorative post-box topper.
The Highworth Yarny Ninjas have been bringing colourful hand crafted displays to Highworth since 2021 and show no signs of slowing down.
Having recently constructed a post-box topper with a large tarantula to mark Halloween of last year, the group have returned with a bang for Valentine’s Day.
A decadent wool topper consisting of an arrowed heart a message of “true love” can be viewed this week on top of the post-box outside the Goldfinger Tavern in Highworth.
“The Valentine’s topper has been planned since Christmas and we are already working on the Easter one,” said a spokesperson for the anonymous group.
“We realised how many people enjoyed it and the whole community thinks its lovely. We have so much fun coming up with the ideas and creations.”
The secret group already has several members but is always welcome to more with several events on the horizon.
“We like to remain a secret as it is a fun ‘whodunit’ each time,” said the spokesperson.
“There’s a great core group but we also have people coming in and out as guests.”
If you are interested in contributing, the group meets in the Goldfinger Tavern from 7pm onwards on Thursdays.
