Quick-acting police searching for a 'high-risk missing person' had to take drastic action to prevent a crash.
Wiltshire Specialist Operations, which covers the roads and armed response units of Wiltshire Police, posted about the incident on its Twitter page.
They said that while searching for the vulnerable adult along with Devizes Police they had to make 'deliberate contact' to stop the missing person's silver Peugeot because of the driver's intentions.
The tweet suggests that at the time officers thought that the person they were looking for intended to drive head-on with other drivers, potentially causing what could have been a very serious crash.
The full tweet from Wiltshire Specialist Operations said: "#RPU and #ARV assisting @DevizesPolice searching for a high-risk missing person in the silver Peugeot, due to the driver's intentions the quick thinking RPU driver made deliberate contact to prevent it from going head on with other drivers. Superb work! #NotJustTickets."
A photo of the aftermath of the incident has also been shared showing damage to the front of both a police car and the silver Peugeot that has also clearly been forced off of the road and boxed in.
