A cancer counselling charity is launching a new one-to-one counselling service in Swindon.
The service, run by charity We Hear You (WHY), is open to anyone over 18 who has been affected or bereaved by cancer, or any life-threatening condition.
The new service is made possible by a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, which has funded the Swindon clinic.
We Hear You has supported residents of Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset and Wiltshire since 2005, but this is the first time a clinic has been available in Swindon.
WHY Clinical Manager Cath Wilkins said: “We’re delighted to be offering counselling for adults affected by life-threatening conditions in Swindon, thanks to funding from Macmillan.
“WHY supports around 700 people in the south west every year and we know how vital it is to have emotional support when you’re impacted by cancer, and how difficult it can be to find it.
“This is particularly true for those who cannot afford to pay for private counselling, or who might not be eligible for other services.
“WHY supports the patient, but also their friends, family members and anyone connected to them, who feels the need for support.”
The Swindon service will operate from Ahead4Therapy at Abbey Meads Village.
