A 14-year-old boy has admitted he was responsible for committing two high-profile knife attacks in the area.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on March 2, he pleaded guilty to the offences and is now due to be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on April 21.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm following an incident at the Link Centre in Swindon on October 29, 2022, when another 14-year-old boy suffered life-changing injuries to his arms when his wrists were forcibly slashed.
It is also understood that the victim was stabbed in the abdomen as well.
Following this incident police cordons were put in place around three sides of the leisure building and several police cars were stationed around West Swindon, including a parked police van with blue lights on the junction 16 roundabout of the M4.
He was also charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm following a violent disorder in Royal Wootton Bassett on New Year’s Day, when a 15-year-old boy suffered serious but not life-changing injuries.
This incident is said to have involved a machete.
The defendant has been remanded in custody, ahead of sentencing next month.
