A man who grew up in Swindon is now making a name for himself and travelling the world cutting the hair of footballers and musicians.
Kester Dadzie learnt to cut hair when he used to live here, before he set up his very own business, Ksharps.
The 20-year-old moved over to Birmingham two years ago and his mobile service enterprise has grown exponentially ever since.
“I work with a few music labels who give me a call and I’ll go down to London for example for a day to do several haircuts,” he said.
“I cut the hair of Nigerian singer Mayorkun which was amazing. He gave me a call to see if I could come down to London and it has all been skyrocketing since then.”
Although Ksharps is still in its early days, Kester has seen many famous clients and had the pleasure of cutting their hair, including multiple up-and-coming footballers.
“I work with a lot of players who are ready to make their breakthrough,” he added.
“Some of the names include Mason Burstow of Chelsea as well as Bristol City defender Raphael Araoye.”
Before he was trimming the hair of footballers, musicians and more though, Kester was learning his trade in his hometown of Swindon.
“I learnt to cut hair from the age of 15 years old and onwards in Swindon while helping at AstyleBarbers with my cousin Asher Graham,” he said.
“I was going back and forth after school so it has definitely an interesting journey so far.”
The barber still holds Swindon close to his heart and recognises his time here as vital in his eventual development.
“One of the best experiences in my life was attending Saint Joseph’s Catholic College,” he revealed.
“Every teacher there taught me everything I know today so I would love to go back there one day.
“There is always more to learn and accomplish in life.”
Kester moved to the Midlands in 2021 to undertake a degree in architectural technology at Birmingham City University.
“Moving to the city certainly made me feel proud to be from Swindon.”
