Repairs on a Burger King restaurant which went up in flames more than a year ago are making good progress.
The fast food chain's Swindon branch burnt down in an accidental fire which started in the roof in June 2021, with the restaurant closed for months.
Burger King requested permission to build a ‘pod’ which includes a kitchen and serving area to fulfil drive-thru orders in a temporary building that would be there for 12 months.
After this permission was granted, the pod arrived in November and opened a month later in the car park in front of the original building.
The main restaurant has been covered in scaffolding and sheets for 18 months.
Recently, the sheeting has been removed and the state of the structure can now be seen from the main road.
It appears that the restaurant has been rebuilt from the ground up.
A Burger King spokesman said: "Burger King UK can confirm that there will be a restaurant re-opening at this location in the coming months.
"However we do not have further information at this time. We will be in touch when more information becomes available.”
