Three four-out-of-five ratings headline the latest food hygiene inspections for Wiltshire’s pubs, takeaways and restaurants.

The Food Standards Agency hands businesses ratings based on their handling of food, how food is stored and prepared, the cleanliness of facilities and how food safety is managed.

Ratings range from five, meaning hygiene standards are very good, to zero, signalling urgent improvement is required.

The latest results from these inspections can be found below.

Four-out-of-five

The Rising Sun pub in Bowden Hill, Lacock, was handed a four-out-of-five assessment on February 1, meaning their hygiene standards are rated as “good.”

Another pub, the Pheasant Inn on Salt Lane in Salisbury, was given the same rating a week earlier, on January 24.

Rounding out the highest scoring premises is Manor Road Fish Bar in Trowbridge, which was also awarded a four-out-of-five rating on January 31.

Three-out-of-five

Two establishments received a three-out-of-five rating, signalling that their food hygiene standards are “generally satisfactory”.

This included Lee’s Peking and Cantonese Cuisine, a takeaway on Langley Road, Chippenham, which got its rating on February 1.

The previous week, The Fox and Hounds pub in Broughton Gifford, Melksham, was also slapped with a three-out-of-five rating.

These results mean 58 per cent of Wiltshire’s takeaways have ratings of five while the number is 67 per cent for pubs and clubs.
