PHOTOS taken in 2019 have revealed what the inside of the derelict Broadwalk nightclub in Swindon used to look like before it burned down.

Fire crews from all over Swindon responded to a fire in the abandoned town centre building situated on Bridge Street on Sunday evening, and it took 40 firefighters almost 12 hours to get the blaze under control.

The building has been left in such a bad condition that it was not safe for fire crews to enter it in order to carry out an investigation into how the fire started.

But, a damaged front door at the front of the former nightlife venue has offered a glimpse of the devastation left behind by the flames.

Photos sent in by an urban explorer who visits abandoned and empty buildings in the town have shown what the inside of the Broadwalk used to look like just a few years ago.

In 2019, the building had been closed for around eight years and sat mostly empty. A fruit machine and pool table had been left, and some chairs, but other than that nothing else remained.

The Broadwalk was closed from 2008 to 2011, but then reopened for a few months.

However it was not to be as it soon closed again, and it has been empty and unused ever since.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson previously commenting on urban exploring said: "While it is not a criminal offence to trespass, our advice to these people would be to stay out of these structures because if they injure themselves it could be hours or even days before help arrives.

"If something does happen it also puts the lives of those people in the emergency services at risk when they have to rescue these people as well."
