An unexpected power cut has hit a large area of Cricklade leaving several residents without power.
The issue was first reported at 3pm on Tuesday, March 21, and currently remains unsolved with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) working at the site to repair the problem.
Electricity is not expected to be restored to the 44 residents affected until at last 6pm tonight, causing issues to several commuters.
This could be seen on a live power map provided by SSEN which showed almost the entirety of the town in red, denoting an unexpected outage.
SN6 is the postcode of the affected area and it is estimated that six houses are currently experiencing issues due to the major electrical fault.
A spokesperson for SSEN said: “Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks was alerted to a fault on its high voltage network in Cricklade at 3pm on Tuesday 21 March.
“Engineers attending the fault are carrying out repairs, including the replacement of a pole box supplying the 44 customers affected, and anticipate all supplies being restored by 6pm this evening.
“SSEN apologises for any inconvenience this interruption to power may have caused and thanks customers for their patience while these essential repairs are carried out.”
