Two local celebrity actresses have been nominated for a BAFTA award for this year's awards show.

Swindon-born Billie Piper has been nominated for leading actress for her role in I Hate Suzie Too, the sequel to the breakout television hit I Hate Suzie.

This saw her reprise the role that originally got her a BAFTA nomination in 2021, Suzie Pickels, an actress unexpectedly having to deal with her phone being hacked and compromising photographers of herself being leaked.

She faces stiff competition from Imelda Staunton in The Crown, Kate Winsletin I Am Ruth, Maxine Peake in Anne, Sarah Lancashire in Julia and Vicky Mcclure in Without Sin.

And the other local lady joining Ms Piper is This Country star Daisy May Cooper, who is from Cirencester just up the A419.

She has been nominated for Best Female Performance In A Comedy Programme.

This is for her role in Am I Being Unreasonable?, a six-part comedy thriller where Cooper plays Nic, a mum stuck in a depressing marriage grieving a loss she can’t share with anyone.

Another mum Jen arrives and they bond, but they are both concealing secrets.

Cooper's competition for the award includes Diane Morgan, Lucy Beaumont, Natasia Demetriuou, Siobhan McSweeney and Taj Atwal.

The show also has representation in the Male Performance In A Comedy Programme and Scripted Comedy categories.

The BAFTA Television Awards, hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, will take place on Sunday, May 14.
