A video showing an incident involving a man and a number of schoolchildren which sparked a major police response in Swindon has come to light.

A large number of police officers descended on a park by Nova Hreod Academy after reports of someone carrying a gun were made to police.

Wiltshire Police encouraged people to stay away from the area, as police dogs, a police helicopter, and armed officers attended to the scene.

A house in Pinehurst was later raided by armed police and dogs in connection with the incident.

The force later confirmed a gun was not involved in the incident.

Video footage taken at the time of the incident has been seen by the Adver, showing the altercation between a man and several teenagers.

In the video, children can be seen by standing water at Nova Park with a man becoming embroiled in a loud argument with some of the young people.

In the footage, he appears to grab one of them and pushes him, before saying loudly into the child's face: "That's my son you little ****.

"One more time, I'll put you in that ******** puddle and drown you. Where's your ******* dad?"

At this point, another pupil appears to tell the dad not to talk to a child like that and he replies: "You want some as well?"

The visibly angry man can then be seen running across the water and up a hill where he grabs another young boy.

An adult member of the public then appears to attempt to restrain the man, with several pupils seen and heard reacting in shock at what was happening.

The man who got involved, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Adver: "He wasn’t happy that some children were playing with his kid in the water and lost it.

“I went to grab him, and we both slipped, so then I just jumped on him.

“He managed to get away and I guess the police had been called. I don’t think there was ever a gun, but I think someone had told the police that.”

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police has provided an update on the incident.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made,” they said.
