Determined thieves took the black bin a bicycle was attached to after failing to remove the lock.
Lilly Dsouza, of Dryden Street, had both her outdoor bin and an electric bike, worth £300, stolen from her home as she slept.
Camera footage shows that two young males were involved in the incident that took place at 1.30am on Friday, March 24.
“I did not hear anything but when we got up we found that the bike had been stolen,” she said.
“The locks were so secure that they took the bin as well!”
The 35-year-old searched for the missing items and reached an intriguing development.
“We looked along the street and could not find anything but by 10am, the bin appeared at the end of the road,” said Lilly.
“I realised it was my bin and pushed it back to the house.”
The bike is used by Lilly’s uncle who lives with her and it helps him get to and from his place of work.
“He now has to walk and he gets very tired,” she said.
“I feel unsafe as they can do anything and break into houses.
“I have been in Swindon for seven years and never has anything like this happened before.”
Lilly told the Adver she decided not to report the incident to the police.
