The mum of missing chef Claudia Lawrence has pleaded for answers on TV.

Joan Lawrence was interviewed by Channel 5 News host Dan Walker for 'Vanished: The Hunt for Britain's Missing People' on Thursday.

During the interview, Ms Lawrence appealed to the public to share information that might help finally reveal what happened to her.

Claudia was 35 when she went missing in York in 2009.

"I've got a big birthday this year coming up and I'd really love some answers," Joan said in the programme.

Dan Walker said: "I know you’ve got an idea of what you think happened, and you would love for the police to speak to Christopher Halliwell, who, many people might remember the name.

“He is in prison isn’t he, serving a life sentence for murdering two women in Swindon, Becky Godden Edwards in 2003, and Sian O’Callaghan in 2011. Do you think he might be involved in what happened to Claudia?”

Joan replied: “Yes, he was definitely seen in York around the time Claudia disappeared because I have spoken to a witness who saw him and has come forward.”

In a recent statement, North Yorkshire Police said: “Any information that is assessed as being credible and capable of development will be acted upon.”
