The development of two large houses on the gardens belonging to two rather run-down cottages will be decided next week, a month later than expected.
Councillors at the March meeting of Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee deferred the plan for the two houses at 77-78 St Philip’s Road because neighbours, who were objecting to the plan, had learned too late about the item coming up at the meeting, and had only found out by reading the LDR’s report in the Swindon Advertiser.
It will now be considered at next Tuesday’s meeting.
Development company Lotus properties (SW) Ltd wants to build the two houses on a strip of green land behind and between the houses of Haig Close and Orchard Grove.
The two semi-detached cottages at number 77 and 78 St Philips Road would be retained in Lotus properties’ plan and used as annexes with offices and additional rooms to the two large houses to be built on the land, one with three bedrooms and one with two.
Access to the site will remain down a narrow alley between 34 and 35 Orchard Grove.
The committee meeting starts at 6pm on Tuesday April 11 at the civic offices in Euclid Street.
