A WOMAN has been charged with fraud offences after knocking on the doors of Royal Wootton Bassett residents and asking for money.
There had been several reports of an unknown woman knocking on several doors in the area and asking for money, claiming she needed it to get to the hospital for various reasons.
This sparked a criminal investigation carried out by Wiltshire Police's Team 5 and led to the arrest of a woman on Monday, April 10.
A woman, Gemma Yates, 30, of Fairfield, has since been charged with fraud offences and is due in court on May 31 later this year.
A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police commented on the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police Facebook page encouraging locals in the market town to keep an eye out for similar behaviour.
They said: "We would urge residents to look out for neighbours and report any suspicious individuals approaching properties."
