A MOTORIST has been caught using their mobile phone while on a motorway.
The driver of a Tesla was spotted by Wiltshire Police officers on the M4 with their hands off of the wheel.
It happened at 10am on Tuesday, April 11, and they were subsequently pulled over.
Using a mobile phone while driving is a criminal offence, and the county's force considers it to be one of the 'Fatal 5' causes of dangerous and life-threatening crashes.
The reckless driver was issued with a traffic offence report.
The traffic stop was shared on the Wiltshire Specialist Operations Twitter page, which provides regular updates on Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit.
The post said: "RPU Stopped the driver of this Tesla for driving whilst using his mobile phone on the M4 this morning."
There was also a picture of the car in Leigh Delamere Services after police had pulled it over.
Many members of the public reacted to the update by questioning the driver's choices.
One said, sarcastically: "If only this was a hi-tech car with a way to connect your phone to use it hands-free."
Another added: "Not the short of charging they had in mind at the services."
